Does Bio Oil Prevent Stretchmarks?

Bio Oil is a golden oil formulated to prevent, nourish and improve skin concerns. It literally makes you glow. So to answer the question, Does Bio Oil prevent stretch marks? From my experience here in Australia, I would say yes! But either way, if I have another baby I will be using the oil just as much as I did during my twin pregnancy. Why?

It Is An International Best Seller

Bio Oil is no stranger to the spotlight. Recommended by doctors, specialists and countless Mums. Backed up by years of research, it is the No.1 selling scar and stretch mark oil since it’s launch in 2002.

I Got It From My Mama

Like so many things, my mum first introduced me to Bio Oil. Initially for the scars on my legs (insect bites from a camping trip). Friends have also been handed this bottle of glowing goodness by their mothers. These durable bottles have literally been backpacking with us around the world as it is such a diverse oil. We used it to moisturise our legs, slick our hair back and fix dry skin and for a little bit of glow.

Does Bio Oil Prevent Stretch Marks

Years later and I found myself going through the little orange bottles again when pregnant with the girls. As directed, I began rubbing the oil on my belly twice a day after the first trimester and did not look back.

Here is a silly picture of me at 25 Weeks with a lot more growing to do… I already looked like the inflatable bird in front of me that I foolishly tried to lie on. Of course, I proceeded to fall off into the water & ruin my book (I don’t think you’re supposed to blow up the middle so much on the bird).

The stretch mark oil kept my belly feeling smooth, moisturised and it seemed to relieve that itching you can get from the skin stretching so much. Luckily, there were no stretch marks where I used the Bio Oil.

Is It Genetics?

From fear of wasting the bottle, I did not use it on other areas of my body, including my legs and breasts. As a result, my middle was stretch mark free but I can still see marks on my thighs – great experiment (not). For me, It’s safe to say the oil definitely helped and next time I will be lathering myself from head to toe.

The Smell Did Not Bother Me

A heightened sense of smell was just one of the many fun things I got whilst pregnant. The scent of this oil was so unassuming I was pleased when did not affect me at all. After so much morning sickness it was a relief. Bio Oil has got quite a unique scent but I don’t think smell too strong, even with, even with a sensitive olfactory system. When applying it I get a sweet scent of the chamomile followed by a little hint of the rosemary oil. It is not for everyone but I don’t think smell too strong.

Absorption Makes A Difference

Thanks to the added ingredient of PurCellin Oil, the feel of Bio Oil and how it absorbs into the skin is perfection.

The Bio-Oil formulation is a combination of plant extracts and vitamins suspended in an oil base. It contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil™, which changes the formulation’s overall consistency, making it light and non-greasy. This ensures that the goodness contained in the vitamins and plant extracts is easily absorbed.

After giving it a good rub, it absorbs into skin beautifully and does not leave a greasy oil streak or even that sticky, slimy feeling behind. It is lightweight but does not come out all at once – it’s not fun when a skincare comes out of the bottle too fast!

The Ingredients In Bio Oil

I love that it has so many ingredients, perhaps that is why it seems to have a positive effect on so many different women. There are too many to add here but they include Vitamins A, E and many beautiful oils.

Bio Oil’s Multiple Benefits

All the ingredients combine to address a range of skin concerns. Did you know how diverse Bio Oil is? Here are the five main skin concerns it can help:

  • Stretch marks
  • Scars
  • Uneven Skin Tone
  • Aging Skin
  • Dehydrated skin

It has so many benefits and is considered safe for use on any skin type. This, of course, includes pregnant women after rigorous testing and many international studies.

It’s Worth It (I Think)

Some will say its luck or genetics that will determine whether you have stretch marks or not. Either way, from what I’ve experienced so far and am thankful to my mum for giving me this bottle of Bio Oil.

Bio Oil sells for about $15 for 60ml from supermarkets, Priceline or online. On a side note, I was in no way paid to promote this product. I did ask for some more bottles through my PR agency and they went to good use!

Did I Mention It Makes You Glow

A little on your arms & legs will immediately give a beautiful glow ✨
