Thank you sensitive skincare fairies for blessing us with La Roche-Posay. This new Anthelios XL Ultra-Light SPF50+ sunscreen is wonderful.

Initial thoughts

I have not tried anything from La Roche-Posay but hear they thoroughly test their products and release only the best. So I was excited to try the new Anthelios XL SPF 50+ range.

Perfect for oily and super sensitive skin, I say stick with this if you’re going to try it. My skin took a while to get used to this and it paid off, in the end, delivering a lightweight protection.

What Is It

The new ANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light SPF 50+ has quality SPF+ from La Roche-Posay is the ultimate sun shield and skin savior with extra skin protectors:

“anti-oxidant Biacalin to fight free radicals on the surface of the skin, whilst being protected and nourished”.

I applied ANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light SPF 50+ once in the morning, after skincare and added top ups after swimming or when I went walking in outside (with the pram).

When first opened the adorable mini bottle, I remember it oozing out the top. It’s imperative to remember to shake the product before use to mix up all the sun protecting ingredients. I think because of this it stung my eyes a little. It did subside and it did not sting my actual skin or make it go red so I do believe it is for sensitive skin.

The excess amount of product made my eyes a little watery but it quickly and evenly sunk into my skin and sat there all day. After about five minutes and then you can hardly tell you are wearing sunscreen and best of all, there was no awful sunscreen smell.

Everyday Use

I was excited that this was specifically for sensitive skin so I tried ANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light SPF 50+ again the next day. The feeling when applying the cream is very thin – ultralight, even for a sunscreen.

I am really happy with the final results for two main reasons:

  1. It works beautifully as a protective base for a light application of daytime makeup
  2. I was out in the sun most days when I tried this and felt it provided 50+ protection as promised.
