Thank you sensitive skincare fairies for blessing us with La Roche-Posay. This new Anthelios XL Ultra-Light SPF50+ sunscreen is wonderful.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL

Initial thoughts

I have read numerous times that La Roche-Posay thoroughly test their products and release only the best. So I was excited to try the new Anthelios XL SPF 50+ range.

Perfect for oily and super sensitive skin, my advice is to stick with this if you’re going to try it. My skin took a while to get used to this and it paid off, in the end, delivering lightweight skin-saving protection.

What it is

The new ANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light SPF 50+ has quality SPF+ from brand La Roche-Posay. Created as a sun shield and skin saviour with extra skin protectors:

“anti-oxidant Biacalin to fight free radicals on the surface of the skin, whilst being protected and nourished”.

I applied ANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light SPF 50+ for a week to try it out. Once in the morning, after skincare and added top ups after swimming or when I went walking in outside (with the pram).

When first opened the adorable mini bottle, I remember it oozing out the top. It’s imperative to remember to shake the product before use to mix up all the sun protecting ingredients. I think because of this it stung my eyes a little. It did subside and it did not sting my actual skin or make it red, so I understand why they say it is for sensitive skin.

TheANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light liquid quickly and evenly sunk into my skin and sat there all day. After about five minutes I hardly tell I was wearing sunscreen – I love that there is no awful sunscreen smell with this SPF product.

Everyday Use

I was excited that this was specifically for sensitive skin so I continued trying ANTHELIOS XLUltra-Light SPF 50+. The feeling when applying the cream is very thin – ultralight, even for a sunscreen and now reach for it everyday.

I am really happy with the final results for two main reasons:

  1. It works beautifully as a protective base for a light application of daytime makeup
  2. I was out in the sun most days when I tried this and felt it provided 50+ protection as promised.

It is easily found in pharmacies like Priceline and online at Adorebeauty for around $28.

I want to try the rest of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL range. Love to hear if you have tried any other products and what you think below 🙂

Sammy x
