Most households know Head & shoulders are go-to for anti-dandruff shampoo. Did you know they began in the 1050s? think of all the science they have put behind the bottles since then. This new Smooth & Skily Shampoo and Conditioner is more than that. It offers the moisture and protection to your hair to tackle dryness and frizz from the Summer heat for that gorgeous smooth and, well, silky finish!
Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner
As the weather is really heating up, I have changed my beauty routine to pack more moisture and protection into the skin – and that includes my scalp. After being sent a new set of the new Smooth & Silky shampoo from Head & Shoulders. I tested it till the bottle was gone. Read on, especially if your hair is prone to dryness, dandruff, curls or kinks.
I was happy to see this product available to maintain a flake-free scalp. I love that it is also highly moisturizing and is newly created to also address the dreaded Summer frizz factor. My hairdresser recommends I use products for my Keratin treated hair (available only from salons). Although it’s expensive and not easy to get (and my family keeps using it), so I welcomed the opportunity to try a new shampoo.
I have been using this one for the last month now, primarily to target a dry scalp now that it is Summer in Sydney. My partner was experiencing this and his usual tar shampoo was not working as well, so he too tried this new Smooth & Silky shampoo and conditioner.
The frizz factor
As the temperature rises, the more I have to manage my hair also rising. I come from a family of curls, super curls, on my partner and now on my twins. It has always been an issue in heat, I see curls more as a code word for frizzy, especially when not maintained so I was extra-excited to see if this Smooth & Silky range also actually tackled the frizz factor as it claims.
Ah, the dreaded D-word! A dry and flaky scalp is quite common these days, and can be brought on or made worse by things like stress and warmer weather. Head & Shoulders claim that:
“An astonishing 79 per cent1 of Australians suffer from dandruff, and the most common oversight preventing Australian men and women from effective treatment is not realising that scalp is skin too, and should therefore be treated with the same care applied to your face and body.”
Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner
Obviously, the Smooth & Silky Shampoo is best used with the matching conditioner to enhance the experience and the effectiveness of the anti-dandruff shampoo. I have used other Head & Shoulders and the scent is always pleasant. The slippery conditioner easily squeezed out of the bottle as a great, rather thick and creamy consistency – easy to apply.
The secret to a flake-free scalp are the micro-zinc particles. This keeps the skin on your head flake-free through penetrating pores and locking in moisture and keeping out nasties. Zinc has amazing healing properties and is also found in a heap of baby products to help soothe skin irritations and nappy rash. So, it makes sense that these scientifically formed micro-particles that penetrate deep into your pores will provide protection against dandruff.
After using the entire bottle in a month, I found it did not dry my hair out like some supermarket shampoo and conditioners can. First and foremost, the shampoo did a great job by gently cleaning hair. Followed by the conditioner which was super rich and moisturizing. It was rather suitable for sensitive skin and even soothing.
The verdict – Bring on Summer
As I have now gone through both bottles, I simply need more! As I have said before, we all need a shampoo for ourselves and one we are happy to share with the family, ideally one that you can pick up in your weekly shop. I love that it has kept away any signs of a dry and flaky scalps, and it left my hair feeling soft, smooth and, well, Silky.
I believe you can grab a bottle of head & shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo and Conditioner (RRP: $12.49, 400ml) from all major supermarkets, pharmacies, and grocery stores. For more, head to www.headandshoulders.com.auwww.headandshoulders.com.au
